Samwise ( Odin)

The first week of life for Samwise was touch and go. He was severely dehydrated, requiring Sub Q fluids. In addition, he was very congested and struggled to breath.  Nursing from a syringe was difficult so he was administered just a few drops at a time.  We were able to adjust the humidity in the incubator to give him the best chance for survival.  Within a few days, Samwise began to show an interest in his formula and his  breathing was less labored.

Salt Spring Cat provided 2 weeks of feeding every 2 hours, 3 weeks being kept warm in an incubator, 4 weeks of stimulation before and after every feeding, 5 weeks of daily weigh ins, 6 weeks of around the clock bottle feeding, 3 veterinary wellness check ups, neuter surgery, quality kitten food and daily enrichment activities. Each orphaned kitten also receives a special blanket and stuffed animal when they arrive in our care. After 90 days, now named Odin, he has settled into his furrever home with Ashley and Ryan.
